WISE UP RISE UP PROGRAM
To provide a platform for information and inspiration to empower indigenous communities to see outside of their communities - missions or urban - and let them know what is really going on in our nation, on our planet. To reaffirm the knowledge that we are the natural custodians of this land – to ensure that we are taking care of the land and each other; to ensure everything is spiritually where it needs to be; to capitalise on unity - working together side by side, to look after country. It’s time to ceremoniously reclaim our heritage and no longer be submissive, ill-informed, or unified. To embrace what it actually means to walk in this world with our culture - as an indigenous man and as an indigenous woman.
We aim to show from direct experience what it actually means to walk with your culture in the world, hearing not just from local activists etc., but from people who’ve been all over the world and walked strong in the culture and sat with elders from other countries and shown respect and received respect as well. This country runs on respect – if we stop giving it we stop receiving it - this country / this planet / this goddess – she starts to lose sight of who we are – and we lose sight of who she is. And one of the main reasons we are here is because she loves us and we’re chosen to be the ones to give back that intent. We are the main ones to do that job. The world runs on love and respect. If either one of those stops – it’s not going to be a pretty future. So for the kids, the young men, the young woman, in community, who are sitting there without an understanding of what they are supposed to do in the word we will remind them. We are not telling them anything new we are just helping them to see through the cloud that’s surrounding them.
Our hope is to drive and inspire enough people to get out and stand up for country next time something goes down. It’s not just five or six indigenous people and thousands of other non indigenous people standing there saying no – it’s all of us together. Whether it’s mining or any other issue. We are naturally geared to protect the country – what happened to stop that?
We will remind all of what it is like to be held by a tribe and to start acting like tribe again. Which includes all the non indigenous who have the spirit born into them on this land – we need to reclaim our connection to country. We have the genetic memory, the soul memory – and we need to work together and release all trauma together to bring the future though in the right way.
